Doug,
Just want to update you on my recent order and purchase of the Guild® GAD JF-48. It arrived at our Florida residence the following day after ordering. I have to admit, I was at first hesitant to purchase because of the low price displayed on your web-site. I was sure this guitar would display the used stamp on the headstock back, and most likely come with a lower end case. I decided to do some research online to confirm or dismiss any doubts in purchasing. I also went to your website and read the article on the mothers worries regarding the teens performing at your shop with their bands. Your reply was a deciding factor in my purchase. It doesn't hurt that my brother, and our son also are named Doug. After finding nothing to discourage me from purchasing, I placed my order at 1:45 AM. The following day I was playing it.

I own several quality guitars, but because of a burglary at this winter residence last year, I had nothing here to play. This Guild is an amazing piece of art. Absolutely stunning, beautiful sound, fine setup, excellent craftsmanship, and no used stamp. The accompanying Guild case in itself, should be worth a third of the cost that I paid.

As you can tell, I am very happy with the purchase, your communication, timely response, and extremely fast shipping. I would like to thank you and your staff for this gratifying transaction. You and your organization are 100% top notch. I hope to visit a Vietnam buddy in Newnan, GA soon, and if so, it would be a pleasure to visit your store.

Thanks again,
Jim Linton

Doug,

I just wanted to take a moment to remind you that Zachary will be ending his lessons at Ponier Music at the end of May. We will be moving to Tampa in June.

We have had an incredible experience here at Ponier Music with Joe Polo. Zach has been taking lessons with Joe for about 1 1/2 years and the progress he has made is fantastic. Joe is an amazing teacher. He is patient with beginners and helps them bring out their inner musician. Zach and Joe have a bond that will never be broken. They have lots of fun learning new songs together. I am sure that the knowledge that Joe has instilled in Zach will benefit him in years to come.

We were also tremendously impressed with the last session of Rock Band that Zach was involved in. Joe admits that singing is not his strongest suit but the way he brought the band together and the preformance that they were able to put on for the audience was fantastic. Zach is enrolled in the current Rock Band session and is looking forward to the next concert.

Thanks for everything,

Lisa Picciano

A promise made,  a promise deferred, a promise fulfilled.
 Ponier Music.
by Meredith Lewis
Years ago, my guitar-playing boyfriend and I walked along a pawn shop’s counter looking at all the guitars on the wall.  At the end of the line, a single mandolin was displayed on the wall.  It had beautiful polished wood and pearl-tipped tuning pegs for each of the eight paired strings.  Guitars were “in,”  and mandolins were not, so I bought a guitar for $25.  But the memory of that mandolin stayed with me and I made a promise that one day I would own one.

Last May I bought my first mandolin, a beautiful Eastman oval-hole instrument.  And mindful of my brief past associations with guitar, piano, and violin, all of which fizzled out as soon as I discovered I was not a musical prodigy, I was determined to begin weekly lessons and keep to a regular lesson program.  And I have.

Ponier Music is my music store, providing lessons, musical instruments, and repair services.  I think Ponier is simply the best and here’s why:

I had been in the Marietta shop several months earlier, looking into lessons for the hammered dulcimer I brought from California.  I was impressed with owner Doug Ponier’s knowledgeable and friendly staff and with the wide selection of instruments available for sale—from strings to woodwind and brass to percussion.

From that earlier visit, I knew Ponier Music has instructors so I went to the web site where I found a mandolin teacher listed among the many musicians who teach at both locations.  Opting for weekly lessons at the Marietta store, I picked a day and time that fits my schedule.

My instructor, Jody Hughes, is a phenomenal musician, playing and teaching students banjo, guitar, and fiddle, as well as mandolin.  Jody is always encouraging, patient, and pleasant, especially on those days when I am most unmusical.  Although I came late to the mandolin, I enjoy every minute I spend with it, from the weekly lessons to the daily practice.

Ponier Music has a service and repair shop that I have used frequently for string changes.  The shop always seems busy with more complicated work, but Dave, the repair shop expert, usually has my mandolin back to me within one or two days.

Music is good for us.  Studies show that music students often excel at academics, and that new brain pathways formed by playing music helps us “chronologically gifted” folks maintain our mental faculties as we age.
